Trees of this group are characterized as medium-sized and distinguished by high winter hardiness, withstanding temperature drops down to -27 °C, as well as relative resistance to leaf curl. Fruit maturation occurs in the period from the end of August to the end of September.
Medium-sized fruits weighing 120–150 g have firm, juicy, and aromatic flesh, which in the variety Roter Weinbergpfirsich is colored intensely red. Due to their firm structure, the fruits possess good keeping quality, storing in a refrigerator for a month or more.
These forms are the result of folk selection and are traditionally used not so much as dessert fruit, but as valuable raw material for culinary use and processing, in particular for the preparation of jams, compotes, liqueurs, brandy, and cocktails.
