The variety is intended for fresh consumption. In international standards, it is classified as a large-fruited plum intended for supply to the consumer.

The variety has been used in breeding programs to study the genetics of incompatibility and pollination, in particular in crosses with the Burmosa and Santa Rosa varieties.
