The variety is the result of folk selection in the Elche region. The plant is vigorous, reaches a height of 2 to 5 meters, and can be grown in containers. The fruit ripening period occurs in October–November.

The fruits have a rounded shape, an average weight of 400–500 g (up to 800 g), and a peel color ranging from creamy yellow to light red. The arils are colored from pink to intense red. Due to the soft "chewy" seeds, the variety is considered one of the best for fresh consumption and is also suitable for processing.

The variety possesses resistance to major diseases and is drought tolerant after 4–5 years of growth. It has a Protected Designation of Origin (D.O.P. «Granada Mollar de Elche»).
