The variety has ancient Spanish roots and is cultivated primarily in the Valencia region. The plant can take the form of a bush or a tree and tends to form thorns under natural conditions. Fruits ripen in the period from September to November.

The fruits are distinguished by a thin skin, which makes them susceptible to mechanical damage from impacts. The variety is characterized by low susceptibility to diseases and pests. Like many pomegranate varieties, it is drought tolerant; however, excess moisture can lead to fruit cracking.
