10 August 2026
The variety is the result of long-term clonal selection and adaptation of local varieties in the Alicante region, Spain. It represents an important part of the regional genetic collection and is often considered in comparative studies alongside the Mollar de Elche variety.
The fruits of the variety are characterized by a sweet taste and dark red skin color with a light pink color of the inner seeds-arils. The harvest of this variety is usually collected in October. The produce finds application both in fresh form and in industrial processing, including research on the composition of the peel and juice for antioxidants.
