Variety description

The variety is an evergreen, densely branched shrub with upright or spreading branches. The plant height varies from 1–1.2 m to 3–4 m in the absence of pruning. A distinctive feature is the significantly smaller number of thorns compared to other varieties of the crop. The leaves are leathery, dark green, glossy, and oblong-elliptical or lanceolate in shape.
Flowering occurs in May–June with white flowers gathered in corymbose inflorescences. Bright red spherical fruits ripen in September and can remain on the plant until February. The variety exhibits high winter hardiness, withstanding temperatures down to -20…-30 °C, and possesses increased resistance to late blight.
The plant is used for creating hedges, growing against walls, or in containers. The fruits are inedible to humans due to bitterness but serve as an important food source for birds in wintertime.
