The variety is used as a green manure and cover crop. It possesses pronounced resistance to the beet cyst nematode Heterodera schachtii, which allows it to be used to reduce pest populations in the soil.

The plant is valued for its rapid development, accumulation of organic matter, and improvement of soil structure. The variety is capable of acting as a "trap crop," effectively absorbing residual nitrogen. The variety has also been considered in research on resistance to clubroot.
