The Edri cherveni variety, which translates to "Large red", is an officially registered variety in Bulgaria. It is widely used in scientific studies at the Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute (Plovdiv).
Research on the variety covered issues of growth physiology, where its high relative growth rate was noted. The influence of various forms and rates of nitrogen fertilizers on yield indicators and nitrate accumulation in root crops was also studied.
