The variety forms large round root crops weighing about 220–300 g. The surface of the fruit is dark, almost black and rough; the flesh is snow-white, firm, and has a pungent taste. The variety is valued for its excellent keeping quality during winter storage and, if agricultural practices are followed, it is not prone to rapid lignification.
The plant is sown in July or early August. With earlier sowing dates, the quality of the root crops decreases, and the risk of the formation of voids inside the fruit increases. The variety is not intended for early harvest and is oriented exclusively toward autumn-winter consumption.
The variety is listed in the national registry — its seeds are authorized for sale in this country.
