The variety has a long history of cultivation, mentioned in sources since the 17th century. In botanical classification, it belongs to the species Ribes rubrum, sometimes identified as the variety Rød Hollandsk.
The bush has dark bark and a stiff growth habit, reaching a height of 1.5–2 meters. Leaves are small, dark green, with sharp lobes. Fruits form in long clusters, are medium-sized and dark red in color, tart in taste, with a possible hint of bitterness.
The variety is resistant to leaf spot, but susceptible to powdery mildew. The berries are traditionally used in cooking for making juices, jellies, marmalades, and preserves.
