The variety was obtained as a result of hybridization of the Red Lake variety and a combination of the species Ribes longeracemosum and Ribes multiflorum. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth and an upright bush habit.
Fruits mature at extremely late dates. The variety is distinguished by relatively long clusters, due to which it is often used in breeding programs to improve this trait in red currants.
