RIETSEMA (NL)
10 August 2026
The variety is a vigorous and dense bush, which has an upright form at the beginning of growth, becoming moderately spreading over time. Shoots are thick: young ones are green without pubescence, and lignified ones are colored in a gray-brown shade.
The berries are red, weigh 0.6–1.0 g, and have a sweet-sour taste. The yield is about 4.5–4.6 kg per bush. The berries are suitable for fresh consumption and various types of processing, characterized by dry separation from the cluster.
The variety is self-fertile, characterized by high winter hardiness and resistance to diseases and pests. In UPOV documentation, it is used as a reference variety when describing the morphological characteristics of red currant.
