ActiveRibes rubrum L. · Redcurrant
RIETSEMA (NL)
10 August 2026
The bush is vigorous, reaching 1.4 m, dense and spreading, with a wide-rounded crown. Shoots are straight and strong, leaves are dark green, matte, with sharp elongated lobes. The clusters are of medium length (6–8 cm) and contain up to 12 flowers. The berries are purple-red, rounded, weighing from 0.5 to 1.0 g, and have firm skin.
The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness, drought tolerance, and disease resistance. The taste of the berries is sour, which makes the variety preferred for processing into juices, wines, and jellies. Due to low self-fertility, planting of pollinator varieties is required to obtain a high yield.
