The variety is an ancient form discovered in the Asturias region. The plant has an upright growth habit resembling a small tree. Flowering occurs once a year during the period from May to June.
The flowers are red-purple or reddish-brown in color, possess an intense fragrance and a high content of polyphenols. Due to these qualities, the variety is used in the perfume industry, cosmetology, and gastronomy, as well as in ornamental gardening.
