The variety was discovered as a chance seedling in the county of Kent. The plant is a deciduous shrub with erect, prickly canes. The variety possesses winter hardiness, though it can be susceptible to Phytophthora root rot.

The berries are medium to small in size, dark red in color, and of moderate firmness. They separate easily from the receptacle and have a sweet aroma and excellent fruity flavor. The variety is suitable for both fresh consumption and various types of processing, including freezing and preserving.
