Diamond Jubilee
ActiveRubus idaeus L. · Red raspberry
Vinson Peter Edward
10 August 2026
The variety was obtained by crossing Lloyd George and Newburgh varieties. The plant is vigorous, forms a large number of root suckers; shoots are strong, arched, and covered with thin red-violet spines. Due to the height of the bushes, the shoots require tying to a support.
Berries are large, weighing from 2 to 7 g, conical in shape, bright red or dark red in color with a glossy surface. The start of ripening occurs from mid-June to early July. The flesh of the berries is soft, the drupelets are not very firmly attached, which limits transportability.
Winter hardiness is weak or medium; it tolerates temperatures down to -20°C well, but in colder regions, bending and covering of the shoots is required. It is relatively resistant to raspberry mosaic virus but can be susceptible to fungal diseases.
