Rubus armeniacus is a wild blackberry species, also called Himalayan blackberry. The plant is vigorous, its shoots reaching 1–2 meters in length and more. The shrub is distinguished by the presence of powerful sturdy thorns and a high ability to spread.
The fruits of this species are black in color and relatively large in size. Although the berries have a good taste, harvesting them can be difficult due to the prickliness and aggressive growth habit of the plant. In garden catalogs, this name may also be erroneously used to describe other perennials not related to berry crops.
