The plant belongs to the group of blackberries with a trailing growth habit, forming long, thorny canes that require the installation of a trellis. The variety was obtained by crossing the Black Logan and Youngberry varieties, which are themselves complex hybrids of blackberry, dewberry, and red raspberry.
The berries have an elongated conical shape, reach 3.8 cm in length, and turn a deep purple-black color upon full maturity. The fruits are characterized by a delicate texture, which requires hand harvesting, and possess a vibrant, sweet flavor with distinct raspberry notes.
The variety is best adapted to a mild coastal climate with cool summers and is sensitive to intense heat, which causes sunscald on the berries and reduced yields. Agrotechniques include mandatory pruning of two-year-old post-fruiting canes.
