The plant has a trailing growth habit and forms vigorous thornless canes 4.5 to 6 meters long, which in cultivation are usually supported at a height of 1.5–1.8 meters. The variety was obtained as a result of hybridization in 1935 and underwent field trials under the number Oregon 609 before its official introduction in 1950.
The berries of the variety are characterized by a sweet-tart taste with pronounced acidity and wine notes, and possess a juicy and firm texture. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption and are particularly valued for processing. The variety is predominantly grown in California and is used in breeding as a parent line for developing new hybrids.
