Variety description

The plant forms dense clumps approximately 30 cm in height and width. Leaves are of medium size, 4–5 cm, oval or broadly lanceolate in shape, with a noticeably rugose surface and a medium-green color.
Flowers are large, deep indigo-blue, gathered in upright spicate inflorescences 10–15 cm long on peduncles 25–30 cm long. Flowering begins in early June and lasts 3–4 weeks; if spent inflorescences are removed, reblooming is possible until autumn.
The variety is characterized by winter hardiness down to -34°C (USDA zone 4). Susceptibility to powdery mildew, Verticillium wilt, and root rots is possible.
