The variety belongs to the forage rye group and is used as an intermediate crop for silage, biogas substrate production, green manuring, livestock grazing, and haymaking. There is also the possibility of use for grain production.
The plant is a population variety of the winter type. It is characterized by high tillering capacity, abundant vegetative growth, and tall stature. Ear density varies from loose to medium.
Compared to intensive grain varieties, Borfuro has lower lodging resistance. Studies confirm that the variety possesses resistance to powdery mildew.
