Carotrumpf is classified as a synthetic winter rye variety. During the mid-2000s, it underwent state variety trials, during which it demonstrated a yield level comparable to other varieties of that time, reaching up to 58.6 c/ha.
This variety was used in experiments studying the allelopathic properties of plants, in particular during the analysis of benzoxazinoid and phenolic acid content. Detailed morphological characteristics and data regarding resistance to diseases or lodging are absent from official materials.
