The variety specializes in controlling the sugar beet nematode Heterodera schachtii. The plant's root exudates stimulate the hatching of nematode larvae from eggs, but do not allow the pests to complete their development cycle within the roots, which provides a sanitary effect for the soil.

The plant is used as a green manure crop in crop rotations before growing sugar beet. The variety is one of the early specialized nematode-resistant white mustard varieties, although it may form a lower volume of biomass compared to some oil radish varieties.
