The variety Inbolwi (trade name Intense) is a compact, slow-growing shrub. It belongs to the Gold Series and is valued for its evergreen foliage and attractive flower buds. The plant is suitable for borders, solitary planting, and for use as a lower-tier plant in gardens.
The plant prefers semi-shaded or shaded locations, protected from the wind, and requires well-drained, humus-rich, and moist soils. Skimmia is a dioecious plant; therefore, the presence of a male pollinator is necessary for fruit formation on female specimens.
