Variety description

The variety is a compact, dense shrub with a height of 70–120 cm featuring leathery dark green leaves that emit a citrus aroma when crushed. Flowering occurs in April–May, when fragrant white flowers appear on the plant in panicle inflorescences.

A key feature is its self-fertility, allowing the variety to form fruit without the need for planting male specimens. Bright red berries remain on the shrub throughout the autumn and winter. The plant prefers partial shade, sites protected from the wind, and slightly acidic, well-drained soils, possessing winter hardiness within USDA zones 5–6.

All parts of Skimmia are poisonous if ingested. The variety is used in landscape design for creating borders, group compositions, and as a container culture.
