The variety «Marmande maraîchère» originated in the Marmande region at the beginning of the 20th century as an early and productive sub-variety adapted to local climatic conditions. It is part of the «Marmande» variety group and is part of the region's agricultural heritage.

The plant belongs to the semi-determinate growth type. The fruits have a round, slightly flattened shape with characteristic ribbing, their average weight ranges from 80 to 150 grams with a diameter of 5–8 cm. The color of ripe fruits is red-orange.
