The variety was used in agricultural practice in a number of regions, including Tunisia, as a late-season crop. In modern scientific publications, it more frequently appears in genetic libraries as a parental line for the creation of new hybrids.
In phytopathological research, this variety is used as a model specimen due to its susceptibility to Fusarium wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici.
