Variety description

The line was obtained through interspecific hybridization between a cultivated eggplant and a wild relative Solanum anguivi, followed by repeated self-pollination and selection. The plant possesses dwarf and compact traits, which makes it an analogue of the model tomato variety Micro-Tom.

The plant is characterized by a determinate growth habit; flowering occurs approximately 41 days after transplanting, and physiological maturity of the fruits is reached on day 103.7. The line is capable of multiple flowering and fruit setting, however, it is not intended for commercial vegetable production.

MICRO-MEL serves as a tool for studying genetics, mechanisms of adaptation to climate change, and conducting rapid breeding cycles. Due to its highly specialized scientific purpose, data on resistance to lodging or specific agricultural diseases are not key characteristics.
