The variety is intended for increasing the resistance of eggplants to soil-borne pathogens and nematodes. The plant possesses a vigorous root system and innate immunity to a number of solanaceous diseases.

The rootstock exhibits resistance to Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt, corky root rot, bacterial wilt, as well as to root-knot nematodes of the species Meloidogyne arenaria, M. incognita, and M. javanica.
