The plant possesses a powerful root system and is characterized by the presence of thorns on the stems. The variety shows resistance to low temperatures, as well as to infestation by root-knot nematodes and vascular diseases such as Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt.

Grafting eggplants onto this rootstock contributes to an increase in productivity and also influences the mineral composition of the fruits, specifically the content of calcium, boron, and zinc. The use of the rootstock may affect the maturity dates of the scion, delaying them depending on growing conditions and the eggplant variety.
