The STT3 rootstock is used in professional vegetable growing to increase yields and extend the fruiting period of grafted crops. It possesses absolute compatibility with a number of commercial eggplant and tomato hybrids.
The plant is notable for high resistance to nematode infestation, Verticillium wilt, and root rot. The rootstock is characterized by slow initial growth and an increased heat requirement during seed germination, therefore it is recommended to sow it 10 days before sowing the scion.
The use of this rootstock contributes to obtaining fruits that are more uniform in size. Unlike wild forms, STT3 is a specialized breeding material with predictable properties.
