The variety was obtained from crossing the parent forms Mercury and Florijn. It is intended for industrial processing, in particular as a source of starch.
In scientific literature, the variety is studied in the context of genetic development, including the mapping of resistance genes to potato cyst nematode. It exhibits a certain level of resistance to late blight, however, it may be susceptible to infection by the pathogen earlier than some other varieties.
