The variety was obtained by crossing Navan and Boxer. It is intended for producing small, regular-shaped tubers that do not boil over during culinary processing. The plant forms a compact leaf canopy, which allows it to be grown in limited spaces, including containers.
The tubers have a short-oval shape, white smooth skin, and cream flesh. The variety is characterized by high yield. Due to a long dormancy period and resistance to storage diseases, the variety has excellent keeping quality.
Bambino is resistant to blackleg, powdery scab and common scab, dry rot and gangrene. It possesses resistance to the golden potato cyst nematode G. Rostochiensis (Ro1).
