The Tysk Blå variety is an old local landrace known by a multitude of regional names, such as Jutkula, Puikula, and Blå Mandel. It belongs to the group of mid-season varieties.
The plant forms long or long-oval tubers with a smooth surface and shallow eyes. The flesh has a medium dry matter content and is characterized by firmness and resistance to darkening after heat treatment.
Regarding diseases, the variety shows susceptibility to the bacterium Erwinia carotovora var. atroseptica, which triggers the development of wet rot.
