The variety is the result of breeding programs using wild species, in particular Solanum vernei. The tubers have an oblong-oval shape, white flesh, and smooth skin with shallow eyes. The variety is distinguished by a high crude protein content and large starch granules, as well as good keeping quality during storage.
The plant possesses resistance to the potato cyst nematode. During the breeding process, specific inheritance patterns of resistance traits to certain pathogens, including Globodera pallida, were noted. The variety has historically been one of the key ones for starch production.
