The variety possesses resistance to stem nematode (Ditylenchus destructor) and Fusarium wilt (Fusarium sambucinum). In scientific literature, the variety is considered as genetic material for creating new hybrids with increased resistance to biotic stresses, in particular to late blight (Phytophthora infestans).
In agronomic studies, the variety acts as a parent form in the breeding of new potato varieties. In comparative experiments on the productivity of offspring, the Podoliia variety demonstrates starch content and yield indicators inferior to a number of other forms.
