Kookaburra RZ is a first-generation hybrid characterized by a semi-savoy form of oval leaves of a very dark color with a glossy surface. The plant has an upright habit and is intended for harvest at the baby leaf stage.

The variety is early-maturing and recommended for cultivation in the spring, early summer, and autumn periods. Genetic resistance includes protection against downy mildew races 1–13 and 15.
