The variety is used by the International Working Group on Spinach Downy Mildew to test the virulence of the pathogen Peronospora effusa. Due to its susceptibility to a number of pathogen races, including Pfs: 16, Pfs: 17, Pe: 18 and Pe: 19, it serves as a control standard in disease monitoring.

Technical characteristics, such as maturity group or commercial product indicators, are absent for this sample in open sources, as it is not intended for the vegetable market.
