The shrub reaches a height of 90–120 cm and has a tendency for the branches to droop slightly. The foliage is simple, green or bluish-green, and deciduous. During the period from June to August, the plant forms small bell-shaped flowers of a creamy-white shade.
The fruits are large and bright-pink, their coloration becoming more intense with the onset of cold weather. The variety prefers sunny sites but tolerates partial shade. It is undemanding regarding soil type, provided there is good drainage.
The plant is resistant to drought once established and to damage by deer. To stimulate canopy density and abundant fruiting, annual spring pruning of the stems to a height of 30 cm is recommended.
