The plant belongs to the Fabaceae family, possesses a hollow stem and a long taproot. Leaves have an elliptical or lanceolate shape; flowers are gathered into large capitate inflorescences of white or yellowish-white color.

The variety is used as a fodder crop or an intermediate crop for soil fertilization. It provides 2–4 cuts per season, with a protein content in dry matter of 17–22%, sugars of about 13%, and fiber of 20–32%. It is capable of fixing nitrogen in the soil in an amount from 55 to 450 kg per hectare.

The crop grows well both in pure stands and in mixtures with other grasses, for example, with annual ryegrass. The variety was bred with an emphasis on drought tolerance; it is an annual and does not overwinter in the climatic conditions of the Czech Republic.
