The plant has an upright bush with pubescent internodes and reaches a height of 40–80 cm at the onset of flowering. The leaves are oval and light green, and the inflorescences are long purple-red heads. The root system penetrates to a depth of up to 90 cm.
The variety is resistant to diseases and spring frosts while exhibiting responsiveness to heat and moisture. It is recommended for single-cut use and is often used in mixtures with ryegrass or winter vetch. The seeding rate in pure stands is about 20–30 kg/ha.
