The variety is classified as large-leaved, although in a number of studies it may be categorized as a medium-leaved type. It is primarily used as a forage crop, often in grass mixtures with grasses such as ryegrass.

The plant demonstrates high dry matter productivity under mowing. However, its productivity may be lower under intensive grazing compared to small-leaved varieties. The variety possesses winter hardiness characteristic of the species and is valued for its ability to fix nitrogen.
