The Merit variety is synthetic, derived from the selection of 30 clones isolated from Ladino-type clover. Plants of this variety are characterized by their large size, prostrate growth habit, and developed stolons capable of rooting at the nodes.

The variety was specifically bred with an increased level of winter hardiness and possesses good resistance to summer drought. Plants contain an average amount of glycosides and are intended for use in pasture and meadow agrophytocenoses.
