The variety was obtained through selection from local Polish populations and is recognized as one of the oldest representatives of the crop. In agronomic studies, it is characterized as an acyanogenic variety that does not contain cyanogenic glycosides or contains them in trace amounts.
In comparative trials, the variety demonstrated specific growth dynamics in the second summer period. Due to its morphological characteristics, Podkowa is often used as a reference for evaluating other varieties of white clover.
