The Ariana variety, also known as Ariana 66, was widespread in Tunisia during the 1970–1990s period. It belongs to tall varieties, which distinguished it from other wheat varieties being introduced during that period of agricultural research in the region.
The plant belongs to the soft wheat species (Triticum aestivum L.) and was traditionally intended for the production of bread and bakery products.
