The modern variety «Explosiv» is an awned winter soft wheat. The plant has medium height and a medium maturity group. The variety is characterized by high yield, efficient nitrogen use, high test weight, and good flour yield. The grain quality corresponds to the baking classification BQ 5. At the same time, the variety is susceptible to yellow rust and Fusarium.
The historical variety «Explosiv» from the company KWS UK Ltd was bred in the UK in 1996 as a result of crossing the varieties Talon and Hussar. At present, this variety is considered archival and is mentioned primarily in academic works devoted to the study of plant resistance to yellow rust.
