The Gabi variety was bred by crossing the parental forms Srpanjka and GK 32-38. Genetic studies have confirmed the presence of the Ppd-D1a allele in the variety's composition. The variety was used by breeders as a parental form in the development of other wheat varieties, including Marta and Elvira.
Plants of this variety possess a fusiform ear shape. A characteristic morphological feature is the very weak expression of waxy bloom on the vegetative organs.
