The variety belongs to the early-maturing group, with a vegetation period ranging from 109 to 114 days under conditions in Bangladesh. Due to the heterogeneity of the variety composition, purified lines Jupateco 73R and Jupateco 73S, which differ in the presence of the disease resistance gene, are often used in scientific research.
The main value of the variety lies in its carriage of the Lr34 gene, which made it an important subject for genetic experiments studying rust diseases. Despite its significance for breeding, the variety was outperformed by modern analogues in yield, which led to its gradual withdrawal from widespread agricultural use.
