The variety belongs to the very early group, characterized by early heading and ripening. Plants are of medium or tall height, characterized by low or medium lodging resistance. The spike is pyramidal in shape, loose, awnless, and red-brown in color. The grain is of medium length, light- or medium-brown in color. Leaves are medium-green, with a medium degree of waxy bloom.
Resistance to powdery mildew, leaf rust, Septoria leaf blotch, and glume blotch varies from strong to a medium degree of susceptibility; resistance to stem rust is medium. The variety has a high gluten content with a medium or high thousand kernel weight and a medium hectoliter weight. Due to a low tillering coefficient and large grain, it requires increased seeding rates.
The variety is considered low-yielding under normal conditions, however, it is valued for the stability of its productivity in harsh climates and regions prone to stem fly infestation. It is maintained in programs for the conservation of heirloom agricultural crops.
