The winter wheat variety Nela was bred at the breeding station in Hrubčice, Czech Republic, based on genetic material from lines HE 2394 and Selekta. Breeding work on the variety included the selection of individual plants in the F3 generation, followed by line stabilization and yield trials.
The plant is intended for baking purposes. During the breeding process, special attention was paid to improving grain quality and increasing resistance to lodging and a complex of diseases. Research confirms the variety's increased resistance to Fusarium head blight.
